Choose the machine when support and repeatability are the point. Choose the overhead press when standing balance, bar control, and whole-body bracing are training goals. Progression and the No-Bailout Failure Protocol
Start with 2–4 warm-up sets as needed, then use 3–4 working sets in a rep range you can perform without changing the setup.
